Hasland CFC U18s - CJB Thu
Under 15s
After three games of the season our under 15s can be really proud of the start they have made. Nine points on the board with two clean sheets and a hat full of goals to boot.
Today however was a tougher test on paper with a visit to Springwell College to face CJB Thunder. This could have been a banana skin if we didn't turn up and the team was also missing strike partnership Jack and Max through covid isolations. Setting up in 4-1-4-1 formation the game plan was to keep it tight at the back whilst looking to break fast when moving from defense to attack.
It couldn't have started much better with a goal after only 3 minutes from central midfielder Jacob for his first of the season⚽️. With Hasland in total control it was two just a few minutes later when Cole scored on 8 minutes. ⚽️
For the rest of the first half Hasland kept creating great chances only to be kept at bay by an inspired GK performance from CJB keeper. One save inparticular was right out of the top drawer!
Half time 0-2
At half time we asked the lads to raise the pace of the game a little as everything was a little slow and boy did they deliver. Two minutes into the second half it was 0-3 when James headed home from close range for his 5th of the season.
Then a flash point in the game when two players came together resulting in a red card for our striker Cole which put us down to 10 men. A quick reshuffle in formation and we kicked on again.
Three became four after 60 minutes with a goal from Matt playing at right full back before Joe made it 0-5 with a free kick from the half way line that cleared the keeper and went straight in.
James was then fouled in the box on 69 minutes and captain Evan stepped up to convert the spot kick to the bottom left corner. The score line was complete four minutes from time with a first goal of the season for Ellis. 0-7
Final Score 0-7
Despite a slip in our discipline today the lads played really well and even scored more goals with 10 men than with 11. Man of the match went to Jenson for his 3 assists and overall work rate as he was a constant threat all game to the CJB back four.
What impresses me more though is the third clean sheet in a row. We are becoming hard to score against and that always gives you chance. On top of that we have seven different goal scorers showing we can create chances from all over the park. Next week it's a bye in the cup so hopefully we can pull a league game forward to keep this momentum going. We'll done boys.
